CLINTON HILL — Crossfit has come to Clinton Hill.

More than 50 members have signed up to join Crossfit Outbreak in the days since it opened Oct. 20, some during pre-sales, in a 3,200-square-foot garage at 10 Grand Ave. near the Brooklyn Navy Yard, organizers said.

Owners Adam Sturm and Shimi Litkowski celebrated the grand opening of the fitness center on Oct. 20 to fill what they saw as a "gym void" in the neighborhood.

"There was a real need for a gym in this neighborhood," said Sturm, who has lived in the area for 10 years. "And when we found our location it was perfect for a Crossfit."

The Crossfit, that is part of the high-intensity strength and conditioning program that was founded in 2000 and now has more than 3,400 affiliate gyms worldwide, has walls made of reclaimed lumber, bean bag chairs and a giant "BK Strong" mural on the back wall.

There are also plans for towel service and showers.

Sturm, who trained at Crossfit Gantry in Long Island City, and Litkowski, who was a coach at Crow Hill Crossfit in Crown Heights, have been crossfitting for a combined 14 years and are enthusiasts of the program that is designed for athletes of any level and experience.

They are excited to introduce the program to people in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill.

"All 50 of our members are new to Crossfit so most of our classes at this point are Crossfit 101," Sturm said.

Sturm also hopes to enlist local high schoolers.

"We have reached out to Brooklyn Tech to see if any students would like to take free after-school classes," he said. "I am really excited about a partnership with young people."

Crossfit Outbreak has a capacity of 350 members. Anyone interested in joining can drop into any class free of charge. There is also a Halloween-themed open house on Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
