A new restaurant will let you chow down on a taco while trying to rescue a princess from the clutches of a giant gorilla.

Gringo's restaurant and bar plans to open next year in Urby Staten Island with a menu of tacos and Mexican fare paired with classic arcade games like Donkey Kong, Mario Bros., skee-ball and more.

"We thought this would be something different and something really fun for the community," said Darren Conway, one of the partners of the restaurant. "I think there's a lot of great things happening on [Staten Island's] waterfront and I kind of wanted to be part of it."

Conway and Rebecca Tarantino, who both own Pier 13 and Lulus Lounge in Hoboken, partnered with Urby developers Ironstate Development to take over a 500,000 square-foot space in the luxury building.

The team is still finalizing details and will host a pop-up event Friday night at Coffeed in Urby with free food, arcade games and music to test out some recipes, Conway said.

"We're trying out some different fun ones then we'll be able to construct the menu from there," said Conway. "I think it'll be good for us to test with some of people."

Aside from the Stapleton spot, the team also leased space in Downtown Jersey City and will open a another Gringo's there.

Both locations plan to open in March 2017, Conway said.

The Gringo's pop-up will be on Friday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Coffeed, 7 Navy Pier Court. RSVPs are required and can be made by emailing events@urby.com.
