NEW YORK CITY — For many people, New Year's Day is all about the hangover-cure brunch after an indulgent night on the town. For others it's a chance to relax, or to start a fresh year with a bang.
DNAinfo New York has rounded up some options for nursing your ailments, rejuvenating or exploring the city.
► New Year's Day Service Changes
• Alternate side parking rules are suspended on both Sunday, Jan. 1, and Monday, Jan. 2 (New Year's Day observed).
• The post office (USPS) will be closed on Sunday, Jan. 1, and Monday, Jan. 2, and mail will not be delivered or picked up on those days.
• Garbage and recycling pickups will be suspended on Monday, Jan. 2.
• Schools will be closed on Monday, Jan. 2.

Rider, 80 N. Sixth St., Williamsburg
Rider is serving what it describes as "the ultimate hangover cure dish." Named "The Cure," the meal includes crispy rice, duck confit, cilantro, hoisin, siracha and a poached egg. The brunch also features "Lox Fries" (potato wedges, cream cheese, salmoriglio and capers) and "Eggs Morty" (an English muffin, riddled mortadella, hollandaise and home fries).
Haven Rooftop, 132 W. 47th St., Midtown
This rooftop restaurant is in the heart of Times Square and features brunch from 12 to 4 p.m. and all-you-can drink options, for those who want some hair of the dog.
Treadwell Park, 1125 First Ave., Upper East Side
Bloody Marys will be flowing at this Upper East Side beer hall on New Year's Day. From the Basic Bloody for $10 to the Blut Aus Nord (with Icelandic aquavit, celery bitters and cornichon) for $11 and the Sancho Maria (with mezcal joven, cayenne salt rim, habanero bitters, mole sauce, almonds and chicken stock) for $11. To eat, Treadwell Park serves house smoked beef brisket with eggs, avocado and parmesan on curried quinoa, among other dishes.
Mundo, 37-06 36th St., Long Island City
For $18, Mundo will offer half an hour of unlimited brunch cocktails. Accompanying the drinks, the restaurant also serves traditional brunch options like buttermilk blueberry and chocolate pancakes, dark rum French toast and a goat cheese frittata.
Isabella’s, 359 Columbus Ave., Upper West Side
You can fuel up before hitting the American Museum of Natural History next door with Isabella's bread pudding French toast, a smoked salmon platter or crab cake benedict, among other choices
Upstairs at the Kimberly, 145 E. 50th St., Midtown East
Take in views of the city and toast 2017 at Upstairs at the Kimberly, which is serving brunch from noon to 4 p.m.
Le Coq Rico, 30 E. 20th St., Chelsea
If you're craving dessert to kick off the new year, enjoy a chocolate version of an Ile Flottante, which restaurant critic Pete Wells named one of his favorite dishes of 2016.
Sauce & Barrel, 97 Washington St., Financial District
The pizzeria is serving a special guanciale pie with fontina cheese, red pepper and baked eggs along with its regular menu.

- Westfield World Trade Center, at 185 Greenwich St. in the Financial District, will be open from 12 to 7 p.m.
- Apple Store, at 767 Fifth Ave. in Midtown, is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
- The Shops at Columbus Circle, at 10 Columbus Circle on the Upper West Side, will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- The Strand, at 828 Broadway in Greenwich Village, will be open from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
► Movie Theaters
- Nitehawk Cinema, at 136 Metropolitan Ave. in Williamsburg, will be screening "Hook," "La La Land," "Manchester by the Sea," "Moonglight" and "When Harry Met Sally."
- Angelika New York, at 18 W. Houston St. in Greenwich Village, will be showing "20th Century Women."
- Film Society of Lincoln Center, at 70 Lincoln Center Plaza on the Upper West Side, is showing "Boogie Nights," "Goodfellas," and "Pulp Fiction."
