MANHATTAN— Police are searching for an Upper West Side father who has been missing since Sunday night — when he left his wife and 8-month-old daughter to go for a walk and never returned, the distraught mom told DNAinfo.

Sharat Iyer, 40, who works as a psychiatrist at Mount Sinai Hospital, was at his home at 300 W. 108th St. on Feb. 19 when he went out to blow off steam, Tomoko Iwaki, 38, explained.

Iyer had been depressed and anxious recently, Iwaki said. He often goes for walks, but Iwaki became concerned when he didn't return after about an hour.

Then, at about 1 a.m., she received an email from her husband addressed to their daughter, saying goodbye to the child.

"He's been stressed and anxious, sleep-deprived because of the baby," Iwaki said. "l'm trying to hold up for the baby."

His phone has been off, but it was briefly turned on Monday morning on the Upper East Side, Iwaki said NYPD detectives told her.

Iyer was described as standing about 5-foot-9 and weighing 150 pounds, she added.

He was last seen wearing a black coat, blue jeans, a blue T-shirt and gray sneakers, according to a missing poster released by police.

Iwaki described her husband as normally "quiet" and "very friendly."

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Borough Manhattan North at 212-694-1093.
