THE BRONX — An ex-con who once prostituted kids under 11 was fatally stabbed by her boyfriend in a murder-suicide in her Belmont apartment, police said Thursday morning.
Elizabeth Santos, 47, who was a registered sex offender with a long arrest history, was attacked by her boyfriend, 64, who then turned the knife on himself in the bedroom of their Crotona Avenue apartment, near East 181st Street, NYPD officials said.
The boyfriend's name wasn't immediately released.
Neighbors called 911 to report a foul odor on July 11 and police found Santos lying dead in the hallway with her boyfriend dead in the bedroom about 11 a.m., police said.
It wasn't immediately clear what sparked the murder suicide.
Santos had been arrested 46 times, but police records for 26 of those are sealed, an NYPD spokeswoman said.
She was convicted in 1999 for promoting the prostitution of a child under the age of 11 and spent the next five years behind bars, records show.
Santos was again sent behind bars in 2008 for selling drugs and spent two years there, records show.
She was released in April 2010 only to be sent back to prison for again selling drugs in 2011, records show. She was released in 2013, according to the Department of Corrections.
The man who killed Santos has been arrested 20 times, but records for seven of those are sealed, police said.
